CLANCY PENDERGAST

On Thursday, the Cardinals lost offensive coordinator Todd Haley to the Chiefs. Today, they're also without a defensive coordinator, but not because Clancy Pendergast got a new gig. Instead, the two sides have decided to part ways. Which, I imagine, is a lot like a mutual break-up in that it never actually happens that way.

Things are getting a little shaky in Arizona after their Super Bowl appearance last week. First their offensive coordinator Todd Haley leaves to coach the Kansas City Chiefs. Then Anquan Boldin says he doesn't think he'll be back. Now defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast is fired.

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - The Arizona Cardinals have reportedly parted ways with defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast.

Five days after their defeat in Super Bowl XLIII, the Cardinals find themselves in need of not only a new offensive coordinator but a defensive coordinator as well. Clancy Pendergast, the team's defensive coordinator since he was hired on Jan. 15, 2004, was one of two assistants retained by head coach Ken Whisenhunt when Whisenhunt got the job two years ago. Cardinals sources confirm today that he and the team are parting ways.

Arizona defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast was a graduate assistant at the University of Oklahoma in 1993, young and thirsty to learn, when he began diagramming plays and jotting notes in an 8½ x11-inch spiral notebook.
