USS PORT ROYAL
Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser the USS Port Royal has run aground off Hawaii.
The ship hit sand approximately half mile off one of Honolulu International Airport’s main runways Thursday evening.
Navy tug boats tried to get the ship off the sand Friday morning, but were unsuccessful.
Navy tugs tried early in the morning to nudge the 9,600-ton and 567-foot guided missile cruiser USS Port Royal off the sandy bottom, but were unsuccessful, officials said.
A year ago, the crew of the USS Port Royal had to be roused at 2 a.m. to catch the Super Bowl live via satellite in the Persian Gulf.
His dishes were two Sansei specialties -- King Crab Ramen with Asian Truffle Broth and Crispy Shrimp Tempura Hand Roll. Dizor was named winner among five civilian chefs, then took the top prize over the military's champion, Nathan Weaver of USS Port Royal, who also bested five of his compatriots.
