While backpacking across Iceland with his nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson, "Bridge to Terabithia"), volcanologist Trevor Anderson (Brendan Fraser, "The Mummy") finds a cave that leads them deep down into the earth's bowels. So they go on a quest to find out what has happened to Trevor's missing brother, and along the way discover a bizarre lost world filled with terrifying creatures.
