Director Pierre Morel's follow up to the nouveau classique District B13 is looking stressful! And yet how awesome will it be to watch Liam Neeson throw a punch in pursuit of the baddies who made off with Maggie Grace? You have to leave it to Luc Besson and his Transporter cronies (Morel was the cinematographer for the first two Frank Martin chapters and co-screenwriter Robert Mark Kamen has had a hand in all three movies) for making a real-life scenario so freaky/engaging, though I'm hoping I won't be spoiled as to the story's twists and resolution before it comes out Stateside since the movie has been out in Asia and Europe for months. Though I will say Ms. Grace, who looks a bit like Jennifer Connelly here, does not do a full reveal for her legion of followers.

Potfest movie
After the movie Beerfest received so much positive feedback, it turns out that the Broken Lizard team has decided to make a sequel called Potfest. Awesome. There's something to look forward to.
Here's the skinny: at the end of the movie Beerfest, it hinted that there would be a Potfest movie, but the producers only implied that as a joke. Turns out that they got so much feedback that they're considering really making the movie and it might be animated and R-rated at that.

And they’re busy too, looking to finish up the script for Super Troopers 2 and actually making Potfest. Potfest is alluded to at the end of Beerfest, and it was originally intended as a joke. But so many people have come up to them to ask about it that the Broken Lizard boys say, “So we’re actually giving some serious thought to it.”

Monarchies, patri­cians and kings ruled the world. History in my time covered the Spanish, the French, Britain, Portugal and Belgium. The sun never set on the United Kingdom but my most vivid memory of English rule was the slo-motion death of Gunga Din, in the final scene of the epic 30s movie. I certainly couldn’t relate to Cary Grant or Walter McGlaughlan but the little ole Indian water boy? Yeah, I could make a connection there, even with bullet holes in him.

Horne, who died Dec. 29 of cancer, also enjoyed a mildly successful film career, appearing in "Gunga Din" and "A Place in the Sun."

OK, so it's no "Gunga Din." At least the subject matter is something most of us can relate to. And "Paul Blart" has topped the box office list for the past two weekends. In fact, it's well on its to reaching $100 million at the box office.

I think director Paul McGuigan (Wicker Park, Lucky Number Slevin) has a thing for too-intricate storylines; during Push's 2008 Comic-Con panel, poor Camilla Belle stumbled through a plot explanation that began to sound like playing rounds of Magic: The Gathering.
Djimon Hounsou, meanwhile, could barely remember his role in the movie. Good thing Dakotah Fanning then popped out to, like, tell the crowd she finally lost all of her baby teeth. Or something.

Today I went to an advance screening for the forthcoming new movie, Coraline. Adapted and directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas) from the Neil Gaiman book, Coraline is just simply a fantastic movie for most ages. 3D goodness! 3D goodness! 3D goodness! I will be writing a much longer review here in a few days when it is allowed, but all I can say is I loved it.

To begin with, the visuals in Coraline are more than anyone could ever ask for. From the minut stitching’s on Coraline’s sweater that you literally feel like you can touch to the wide shots of the gardens filled with flowers and lights. This film is definitely a feast for the eyes. The way that Selick chose to use 3-D is artistic as opposed to gimmicky. Instead of using it to scare you or jump out at you (although there are a couple of moments where that happens) he uses it to give the film more depth. It feels as if you are actually on the set, able to touch the the characters walking around. It helps to add a whole new dimension (literally).

They key film this weekend is Coraline, Henry Selick's stop-motion (and 3-D!) adaptation of Neil Gaiman's children's book. Interestingly this one has no involvement from Tim Burton, so when we think of creepy-looking stop-motion we should probably think of it as "Selicky" rather than "Burtonesque." Though its trailers make it look like little more than a 3-D thrill ride (characters constantly reaching into the screen, waving their hands about, etc.) Gaiman's stories adapt well to the screen—we were pleasantly surprised with Stardust when we finally saw it—and NOW's Norm Wilner admits certain moments gave him "the heebie-jeebies," so we're looking forward to seeing it.

Coraline. (2009, 100 minutes, PG, animated fantasy, trailer) Based on a story by Neil Gaiman and directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach), this looks like a winner. It is a stop motion animated feature that tells the story of a bored girl who discovers a doorway to an alternate universe that is quite similar to the real world, only better.

What is Lost Untangled? It's not the Lost Season 5 Episode 5, but it's a featurette about Lost from the beginning when the plane crashed to the present season and episode. Nearly two years to the day after the original Transformers was released, it's interesting to note how the personalities involved here have changed. Shia LaBeouf has gone from an up-and-comer to full-fledged star, with attendant backlash and ego bursts; Megan Fox one upped her co-star by becoming a more credible Hollywood bad boy; Michael Bay is still as huffy as producer Don Murphy is angry, though they both do an admirable job of bringing movies news, insights, misdirections, and angry rants to the TF universe.

In his sixth year at Hogwarts, Harry Potter discovers even more about the evil Lord Voldemort's past, thanks to his mentor Dumbledore and mysterious textbook marked "This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince." By the end of the year, nothing will ever be the same.

Director David Yates is again at the helm for this sixth film, which if the book is any indication, trods into decidedly grown-up territory -- we have left Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans far behind. Good news: screenwriter Steve Kloves is back, and the newest high profile cast additions include Jim Broadbent as professor Horace Slughorn) and Helen McCrory as Draco's nefarious mum. (Don't know her? She was Cherie Blair in The Queen) The bad news? You will probably need a hug by the time the credits roll -- darkness, death and despair loom highly for our hero.

The feud between ex-con Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and agent Brian O'Connor (Walker) is reignited back in Los Angeles, where a crime has pitted the two men against one another yet again. However, when they realize they have a common enemy, they put their past behind them and unite to stick it to their foe.

No doubt that Justin Lin was eager to return to the director's chair after shaking the dust off of this franchise back in '06, and we can only imagine that Diesel, Walker, Rodriguez, and Brewster caused zero problems during their respective negotiations to reprise the characters that first brought them true fame (or something like it). One great thing: Lin has delivered a teaser trailer (located above) that is better than most full-fledged action sequences in recent memory.

In 2009 this summer will be the world's film competition. I would like to study here. Been April will present the film that will make us interested in the eyes DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION. This film recounts the Dragon Ball in the future. With modern technology and increasingly sophisticated.
