Actor-singer Nick Cannon has signed a deal with NBC that includes hosting its summer reality show "America's Got Talent."

On the series' upcoming fourth season, Cannon will succeed Jerry Springer, who bowed out last week.

Cannon is the third host for "Talent," which launched in 2006 with Regis Philbin as emcee.

"Nick exemplifies the spirit of 'America's Got Talent' with his talent, originality and an infectious love of performing and creating," NBC head of alternative programming Paul Telegdy said. "His popularity and appeal are sure to take the series to a new level of success."

The hosting gig is part of deal Cannon negotiated with NBC that involves unspecified future projects.

"This is just the first of multiple projects we are looking to do with Nick at NBC," NBC co-chair Ben Silverman said. "He's a true triple threat: a multitalented producer, actor and musician."

New reports today confirm that Brown's superstar girlfriend, Rihanna, was the victim of the alleged attack -- and suffered bruises, scratches and even a bite mark (some reports have said she has a broken jaw), but her people are not commenting except to say "she is well."

Shelley Malil, known for his bit in the Budweiser “What are you doing? Wassup” beer commercials was arrested yesterday at an Amtrak train station in San Diego for allegedly stabbing his ex-girlfriend according to Lt. Phil Brust of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The couple had been in a dating relationship and had recently parted ways.

Malil showed up at to his ex girlfriend’s home in San Marcos where an altercation between the couple took place. Kendra Beebe, 35, was stabbed an estimated 20 times. Sadly her children were at home at the time of the attack.


Shelley Malil, who played Haziz in The 40-year-old Virgin has been arrested accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend. The incident occurred on Sunday evening when police were called to an address in San Marco, California where a woman was found with over 20 stab wounds.

When a neighbor failed to contain Malil, Malil's family worked with police to apprehend him. He was caught at a train station at Oceanside, California apparently on his way to his lawyer's office.

I’m going to open up and share something with you – I’m a recovering addict. I used to attend concerts three to four times a week. When you give your body this much sensory over-load on a regular basis, you’re bound to become incoherently numb to pretty much anything music related that keeps you away from much needed sleep. Unless of course, it has the ability to make you feel something new and original that you’ve never felt before. With that in mind, when I received a text message that read “I was just at the most amazing show ever. Chills up and down my spine. You have to hear this.” I was left curious.

The text message was referring to Theresa Andersson. A soft-spoken, singer-song-writer from Los Angeles, California who tends to have more originality in her pinky than most people do in their entire body. Big words I know, but after familiarizing myself with her music on Myspace and loving every bit of it, I felt the only logical step next was to attend one of her residency shows at The Mint in Hollywood. The gloomy club is only two blocks from home for me, so it wouldn’t take much energy for a tired-concert-goer like myself to show up and see what she’s all about.

Maybe Conan O’Brien noticed that Theresa Andersson’s viral-video hit, “Na Na Na” (recorded in her kitchen) is up to an astounding 791,000 views on YouTube. She’ll be his guest tonight (NBC, 11:35 pm), performing songs from her new CD Hummingbird, Go!. Also on the bill: Jon Hamm of Mad Men.
